It’s important to store your food properly when camping to ensure the safety of your family.
Items that normally would be refrigerated need to be stored in a cooler. Store items in sealable, water tight containers. Replenish the ice before it has completely melted. Convenience stores, grocery stores, practically any store located near camp grounds will have ice. It will be easier to drain the excess water if you purchase a cooler with a drain.
Store your cooler in the shade. Open the cooler as infrequently as possible. Store drinks in a separate cooler again to minimize the opening and closing of the food cooler.
Dry food should be stored in either the boxes they came in or resealable containers. Store those items in plastic bins. The dry food bins should also be stored in the shade.
If any food has an off odor, throw it out.
By following the above suggestions you can minimize the possibility of upset stomach or food poisoning while camping.
